Raychem Founder Paul M. Cook Joins Energy Recovery, Inc. (ERI) Board of Directors
Innovative and Legendary Visionary in Technology Joins Desalination Solution Manufacturer
SAN LEANDRO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Energy Recovery, Inc. ("ERI") (NASDAQ:ERII), a global leader of ultra-high-efficiency energy recovery products and technology for sea water desalination, announced today that legendary radiation-chemistry pioneer Paul M. Cook joined the Company's Board of Directors.
Mr. Cook is a chemical engineer and MIT graduate who founded Silicon Valley's Raychem Corporation in 1957. Early in his career, he studied radiation chemistry at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI). His research innovation led to Raychem's industrial electronics components with thousands of commercial products serving the aerospace, automotive, construction, consumer electronics, military and telecommunication industries.
Under Mr. Cook's reign, Raychem developed such products as aircraft wire, heat shrinkable tubing and innovative circuit products. Raychem, now part of Tyco Electronics, serves a multi-billion dollar market.
In 2008, Mr. Cook was awarded Stanford Research Institute's highest tribute, the Gibson Achievement Award for his seminal research on micro-algae that was fundamental to today's research on carbon dioxide capture and bio-fuels. He was also a recipient of the National Medal
of Technology as a visionary and entrepreneur in radiation chemistry. Mr. Cook has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering, the American Academy of Science, and the Bay Area Business Hall of Fame.
"Mr. Cook is an extraordinary individual who has made great contributions to the world by being a true innovator. We are honored to have him on our team," said ERI President and CEO G.G. Pique.
"Joining forces with Paul in his vision of the future of energy-efficiency technologies is key to strengthening and expanding our market," said ERI Chairman, HP Michelet. "The amount of energy and involvement Paul has, even well after 50 years in the business, is what makes him a remarkable person."
