ERI Announces New Board Appointment

Dr. M. Elisabeth Pate-Cornell Joins Energy Recovery, Inc Board of Directors

SAN LEANDRO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Energy Recovery, Inc. ("ERI") (NASDAQ:ERII), a global leader of ultra-high-efficiency energy recovery products and technology for desalination announces that Stanford University Professor, Dr. M. Elisabeth Pate-Cornell, has been appointed to the ERI Board of Directors to fill a current vacancy.

Dr. Pate-Cornell is currently a Professor and Chair of Stanford University's Department of Management Science and Engineering. She is considered a world leader in engineering risk analysis and management, with specific applications relating to the NASA shuttle tiles, offshore oil platforms, and US foreign intelligence.

She holds a PhD in Engineering-Economic Systems and a Masters of Science in Operations Research from Stanford University. Dr. Pate-Cornell also received an MS degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble in France. Prior to leading the Management Science and Engineering School, she was an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at MIT. Dr. Pate-Cornell was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1995, and was a member of its Council from 2001 to 2007.
