Energy Recovery Inc CEO G.G. Pique Inducted into Barney School of Business Alumni Hall of Fame
Recognition of Globally Aware and Socially Conscious Business Leader in Desalination Includes New Scholarship
SAN LEANDRO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Energy Recovery Inc (NASDAQ: ERII), a leader in the design and development of energy recovery devices for desalination, today announced President and CEO, G.G. Pique, has been selected as a 2011 inductee to the Barney School of Business, University of Hartford Alumni Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame profiles the achievements of prominent alumni to provide a source of inspiration for students, alumni, faculty and staff of the Barney School of Business. This year, the school has added a scholarship in the names of the recipients. With this recognition, G.G. joins other business leaders as a member of the Hall of Fame, including George Gentile, former chairman of Gerber Scientific; David Cordani, CEO of CIGNA Corporation; and Gerald Vitkauskas and Richard Booth, both of whom served on AIG executive teams.
"The Barney School of Business' mission is to develop leaders and decision makers who are globally aware and socially responsible, and we formed the Hall of Fame in 2009 to recognize alumni who live this mission in their chosen field. Based on these criteria, we have proudly selected G.G. Pique to join our Hall of Fame this year," said Stephen Mulready, board of visitors chair of the Barney School of Business. "Our alumni base is large, more than 20,000 graduates, so the recognition is truly to a select few. Beyond that, we view this Hall of Fame not only as a way to honor the recipients, but to show our current students examples of Barney grads who have gone on to live successful and honorable lives."
"I'm honored and humbled by this recognition by Barney School of Business," said Pique. "My experience at Barney has been invaluable in preparing, launching and supporting my career. I am especially touched by the school's newly created scholarship formed in connection with this award. I'm grateful that I can be, even in some small way, a part of helping more Barney students create the tools for success and be the business leaders of tomorrow."
G.G. has led ERI as president and CEO since 2002, which includes the company's successful IPO in 2008. Under his leadership, G.G. has driven and managed the evolution of the ERI business model and its organization from a $1.5 million/year operation into the dominant player in the desalination industry with 70 percent market share. G.G. has more than 35 years of experience in the water industry, which in addition to establishing him as an expert in the reverse osmosis field, has also helped drive ERI's position as one of the fastest growing companies in the water desalination industry.
