Ashdod Plant Prefers Upgraded PX-Q300
Energy Recovery Solution with a Design Life of 25 Years
SAN LEANDRO, Calif., March 6, 2012-Energy Recovery Inc (NASDAQ:ERII), a global leader in the design and development of energy recovery devices for desalination and other industrial processes, today announced that the Company signed a contract to supply its PX Pressure Exchanger(TM) (PX) energy recovery devices for the Ashdod Desalination Plant, one of the five largest seawater reverse osmosis desalination plants in the world. The agreement was made with IVM Minrav Sadyt, a consortium involving Spanish company Sadyt as the process technology partner and Minrav Holdings as the civil construction partner. The massive plant, located in Israel, will include ERI's most advanced line of products (PX-Q series) to be delivered in 2012.
The award to deploy PX-Q300 devices for the Ashdod plant is centered on the exceptional performance and overall track record of ERI devices in other large-scale desalination facilities. ERI brings the notable value of high efficiency guarantees, and maximum uptime to deliver to its customers a robust technical solution that provides economic advantages over competing technologies for the life of the plant. Upon completion, the Ashdod plant will produce approximately 430,000 cubic meters per day (114 million gallons/day) of fresh water.
"The added value that ERI brings to projects of this magnitude is immense. We are able to achieve substantial savings in energy costs in combination with higher performance technologies," stated Pablo Abril Martorell, general manager of Sadyt. "Energy Recovery's PX devices are the ideal choice for desalination plants of any size."
"We are very encouraged to see the increased level of activity in the desalination industry this year. ERI has been providing high-performance PX energy efficiency devices into this market for decades. We are extremely pleased to see that our clients are making the best, long-term investment decisions for their projects," stated Tom Rooney, executive officer of Energy Recovery Inc.
The Ashdod award follows the announcement of ERI's recent contract for the Palmachim project, Israel's largest desalination plant expansion project.
